20091205 – Leaving New York

Wow! Tylenol PM really works along with ear plugs. I didn’t hear Ann get up at 7:00. When some bright light hit my eyes at 7:20, I woke up. In a haze, I got dressed and followed Ann to breakfast.

We had planned a walking/eating tour of Queens in a multi-ethnic neighborhood. The rain and forecast of snow convinced us to stay at the hotel and catch up on our reading, email, journals, etc. We caught the 12:00 shuttle to the airport and killed time in the main terminal by shopping, eating lunch and reading. Egypt Air was ready for us to check in at 2:30, so we did. We had no excess baggage charges (Ann packed lightly this time). Security was a breeze. It’s now nearing 3:30 and we are sitting outside our gate waiting for a 5:30 boarding call. We have a lot of time to relax and we intend to do so. It’s still raining lightly and the temperature is around 40. Hopefully the flight will be on schedule.

A late update – The rain turned to wet snow. It didn’t stick, though, so we had an almost-on-time liftoff.
